Book Review - Library Of Souls By Ransom Riggs

Library Of Souls by Ransom Riggs
(Third book to Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children)

Publisher: Quirk Books

Release Date: 22 August 2015

Pages: 400

Summary: Time is running out for the Peculiar Children. With a dangerous madman on the loose, and Miss Peregrine still in danger, it's up to Jacob Portman to channel his newfound abilities and defeat Caul before he loses his friends and their Peculiar world forever.

My Thoughts: Library Of Souls is my favourite book in this series. It started off right where Hollow City left off. Immediately, I loved it. Emma and Jacob are so great together and their journey to the end was so nerve racking and well written

The plot of this book was especially good and I loved seeing Jacob's ability develop more. All the Peculiar abilities are so cool and they really reflect the character's personality.

The main action near to the end of this book was just so gripping. The whole concept about the Library Of Souls was thought out so well and so detailed you could really believe it was true.

Also, as the final book in this series, Ransom Riggs did a perfect job at tying all the ends together to finish it off. It was one of the most satisfying wrap ups I've ever read and I was delighted to know how their lives continued on.

This series has been a wonderful story to follow and I really wish it wasn't over as I just can't get enough of the characters. Ransom Riggs is such an amazing author and I really hope you guys read these books!!

Anyone else excited to see Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children in movie form?

We remember when the book first came out we thought it looked a little creepy and dark, and horror is not really our favorite genre, haha. But as we found out the story and characters are very interesting & unique and not the usual brand of Stephen King genre horror. When the film comes out we are definitely making the trip to the movies to see it. The trailer was amazing and Tim Burton was the perfect choice to adapt it onto the screen. Altogether the project might be a big step for YA being recognized as a respectable and complex genre.

    1. Yeah the cover kind of makes it seem more of a horror story!! Yes, I cannot wait to see the movie adaptation, I agree the trailer is brilliant and the song they use captures it so well! Have you read this whole series?

We agree, the song in the trailer does fit perfectly with the theme and visual timing! We only have the first Miss Peregrine's, but really want to get Hollow City and Library of Souls in hardcover soon. Also with Tales of the Peculiar coming out we'll want to add that to the collection as well, its so exciting and bit of a book overload, haha! Are you looking forward to Tales of the Peculiar?

    1. Oh ok, I thought Hollow City was even better than Miss Peregrine's!! I find that you can appreciate the vintage pictures more when you're reading the hardbacks, haha that might be just me. Tales of The Peculiar sounds great! It'll be so great to get back into the world again. I got a poster at Yallwest of the book cover and it is gorgeous! Did you get one of those?

We were so jealous of the Tales of the Peculiar posters everyone got at Yallwest! We weren't lucky enough to get one but they were so pretty, *sigh*. Definitely think that because of the vintage photos incorporated with the series that hardbacks are the only way to go, an ebook wouldn't do it justice! It was so cool to see Ransom Riggs talk at panels about the series, whatever he does in the future definitely has our attention!

    3. Oh that's disappointing that you didn't get one. I can't imagine having to buy the ebook version, I hate the fact that kindles are in black and white it really takes from it! Yes we loving seeing Ransom in the panels too. He and Tahereh Mafi are very cool. Did you get Miss Peregrine's signed by him?
